WHO BRINGS THE TRUTH?

This morning suddenly a question arose in me :" Who was the very
first enlightened man on this earth ?" Who would have shown him
the path to Enlightenment? Had he left any Teachings? How he would
have lived amidst the unenlightened people? What a torment he
might have undergone in communicating, sharing his understanding
with others? How lonelier he might have felt?

Though today we are surrounded by so many New Teachers with their
varied teachings, including the teachings of the Old Giants,
Buddha and Jesus, we are really left alone with our muddled heads
and shrunken hearts, to our own devices. And no Teaching can help
us in any way!

One can read and study Ramana, or Krishnamurti, or both side by
side; nothing will happen! Because we don't have the impetus from
within each of us, to propel us to understand the mystery called
LIFE! Also we don't have the Key, the penetrating consciousness to
decode the teachings,their revelations and deeper insights.Instead
we merely graze on the words and sentences of the teachings. Our
reading or studying of the religious or spiritual teachings is a
kind of linguistic exercise only!

The first enlightened man must have come upon it without any idea
or concept of enlightenment. And each of us is very much like that
first man, in his maiden voyage, left without any clues, maps,
guides on the way to his Enlightenment! Despite abound with all
the maps, teachings, and Gurus of every shade, we are as helpless
and perplexed as ever.

But what is a Teaching except an exposition of the Laws of Life,
the Laws governing Total Existence? Unlike science, spirituality
is replete with every kind of waywardness - anarchism, opportunism,
totalitarianism, and so on.

As far as the Laws of motion are concerned, the Greek philosopher
Aristotle first brought out his views on motion which were widely
accepted because they seemed to support what people observed in
nature. Then came Nicholaus Copernicaus with his views. Then came
Galilieo Galiliei. After Galilieo, came the great french philosopher
Rene Descartes, and following him came Newton. To the first law of
motion postulated by Descartes, Newton added the second and third
laws. Then came the giant one, Albert Einstein with his far out
theories of Relativity.

In science there is no hero-worship, nor any cult of personality
as in religious and spiritual circles. Those scientists who made
discoveries and breakthroughs get the credits and their names are
ascribed to their theories, as 'Newton's laws of motion' and
'Einstein's Theory of Relativity' and so on. It was Isaac Newton
who said:

    "If I have seen further than others, it is by standing upon
     the shoulders of giants"

Such qualities of acknowledging  and crediting the pioneers with
honor could not be found in the spiritual field. Instead, here
each one behaves as if he is a 'born-Buddha', or a 'born-Jesus'.
In the case of J.Krishnamurti, he went a great step further as if
he was the first one to have found out the Truth and so he has
got the whole rights for expounding it, meaning what all others
had found out were only half-truths or simply untruths!

As obsessed as he was with his own experiernce of enlightenment
and arrogantly pursuing his own style of expression he ignored
his contemporaries along with the Giants of the Golden past,
as if he was the one and only saviour of all humanity.

These are the Great Individuals who lived around the time of
J.Krishnamurti. Individuals who had attained the highest level
of Consciousness and accessed Truth and brought forth their
Messages and Teachings to awaken the slumbering humanity.
 
In his obsession to promote his own Teachings, krishnamurti
somehow failed to understand the simple fact that the experience
of Truth is one and the same for all the individuals because of
its Timeless nature. That is, his truth cannot be more of a truth
than another's.

The insightless admirers and devotees of Krishnamurti say in
chorus that his teachings are so unique, so original and all
that. It was said that Krishnamurti was one of the most original
thinkers of our time who investigated fundamental questions about
the purpose of life, the true meaning of love, religion, time,
and death without seeking answers in any books or scriptures and
without accepting any belief, organized religion or system of
thought...and what he has said may have been said earlier by
others but he came upon the truth of it for himself and so on.

Truth may be a pathless land but neither Krishnamurti nor anyone
can claim exclusive ownership or the right to expound it.The line
'truth is a pathless land' is poetically a beautiful one, but truth
has nothing to do with any 'path' or 'land'. Well,if there is such
a thing as truth, in what relationship it stands with every
individual human being is the real question.

Truth is not just for any privileged or chosen few. Truth is the
Ultimate state of any man's consciousness that could grow into,
if only he cares and awakens to his own consciousness. And if the
majority of human beings do not care about truth, that is, about
their own highest self (the highest poit of one's own growth),
wholeness and so on, then it is no man's business to look into
or interfere with.

"Truth is a pathless land" is a poetical ruse employed by
Krishnamurti to free himself from the clutches of the Theosophists,
it was a startling opening line of his declaration (to disband the
Order) made by him on 3 Aug,1929; which he cooked up through
two years. And he effectively freed himself from them for good.
Apart from this successful personal escapade that line of poetry
had not revolutionized anything. In a way, it is true that truth is
really a pathless land. But it is an internal problem, that is,
when a man is separated from his truth by a chasm, what Krishnamurti
or anyone else can do about it from the outside?

Well, now let us turn to the question, "Who brings the truth?".
No one really brings the truth into the world. For truth is the
flowering of the world which blossoms outside the world, that is,
outside the world of space-time. Verily each individual human being
(by virtue of his consciousness) metaphysically represents the world,
like each apple represents the apple tree as the apple contains the
apple tree in itself,that is,in its seed. Because of this last fact,
man forms not just a part of the world but he is the very center or
heart of the world; a very important aspect of man which a lot of

Enlightened men including Krishnamurti have missed. Krishnamurti
came closer to a clear understanding when he said that 'in each one
of us that the whole of existence is gathered’, but when he said
that 'man is part of nature', he missed it again, which shows that
there are gaps in his metaphysics like his body-centric spirituality..


Well, truth is not a thing or an object lying on the outside, hidden
somewhere under the sea or at some mountain-top to be brought down
to the town by some rare hero-like individuals. On the contrary, it is
an inner reality to be attained only individually by undergoing a
metamorphosis in one's consciousness.

The state of butterfly is the truth of the caterpillar. If the
caterpillar wants to realize its truth it has to transform itself
into a butterfly! In the case of caterpillars, the transformation
is physical; in the case of humans it is spiritual, that is, the
transformation has to take place in man's consciousness. These are
not poetic renderings but metaphysical facts, not gleaned from any
books, ancient or modern but from the direct experience of truth.

Though Truth is one, each one has to directly access it individually.
It is like drinking water from a common source but each one has to go
to the source directly and drink from it to one's heart's content;
and no one can fetch even a drop of it and give it to another.

Perhaps after drinking from the wellspring of Truth one can come back
and tell others the importance of drinking from it, that is all one
can do about it.

And what is a Teaching except it is just beating about the bush.The
Truth-intoxicated man can discuss anything or everything under and
beyond the Sun for eternity but he can never ever come to the point.
Because, the point in question is not a point at all but an
experience that cannot be transmitted to or shared with another.
Hence all Teachings are utterly limited as far as the central thing
is concerned. But any teaching can be useful peripherally....

And what is a revelation? The revealing of something that is of
utmost importance and of ultimate significance. And the whole
phenomenon of revelation takes place inside one's psyche, that is,
something is revealed by the Highest Consciousness to the human

consciousness. What is revealed or communicated is not just a piece
of information or knowledge but it also involves a transmission of
spiritual energy of the Highest Consciousness, in all, it will be a
numinous experience. Thus a revelation is something one receives
from the innermost depths of one's self and hence the one who
directly receives it gets its benediction. And it is the same
with insight also.

And when a revelatory Teaching full of insights is written down,
that is, translated into words, it simply becomes a set of
instructions or a body of knowledge devoid of life. Hence an insight
always requires from us a heightened awareness to understand its
import. And anything that is not directly embraced by oneself in
one's consciousness cannot be assimilated and one will be a stranger
to that thing. And so we remain a stranger to Life, truth and our
deepest Self.
